Students enrolled in the popular Health Occupations program develop specific skills in areas of nursing and medical assisting. Students work toward meeting both classroom and clinical requirements to be eligible for both career pathways, all while earning additional certifications that include OSHA and Phlebotomy Technician credentials.
The Certified Nurse Assistant component focuses on the care of the resident or patient in an in-patient setting. Students sit for the Massachusetts Nurse Aide Certification exam in their Junior year of the program.
The Medical Assistant component of the program focuses on clinical procedures needed to work in an out-patient setting, such as a doctor’s office. Students meet the requirements for sitting for the National Health Career Association Clinical Medical Assistant certification exam.
The Phlebotomy technician training ensures our students are prepared to be contributing members of critical care teams in hospitals, diagnostic laboratories and blood donor centers. As new types of tests are developed and laboratory technician positions grow in demand, our students are prepared for entry-level careers in this thriving field.
